The Moulin Rouge can be found in Paris’ 18th arrondissement, in the area known as Pigalle. Notorious as the city’s red light district, Pigalle is nonetheless popular with tourists who want to experience Paris by night and is full of cabarets and sex shops, as well as theatres and shops specialising in musical instruments. Despite its somewhat seedy reputation the area is generally safe and is also where many of the capital’s best budget hotels are located, making it especially popular with young travellers and backpackers. The Moulin Rouge is close to the Montmartre district and the beautiful church of Sacré-Coeur. The nearest Métro stop is Blanche; for more details on how to reach the Moulin Rouge via Métro and for alternative means of transport, visit our Getting There section.
